After we finished our orientation module we started a new module. Here we had to make a hand. The purpose of this module was for the students to get an understanding of textures, space, surfaces, planes, like how there are bulges on a hand and at some places its a flat surface.
First we started drawing hands on a sheet using different mediums to get a good understanding of planes and proportions of the hand. I used two mediums to draw, charcoal and oil paints.
After getting and idea about the proportions and the curves of the hand I started making hand models. Here also I used three different mediums to make the model the first medium was paper. I tore the paper into small pieces and dipped them into the mixture of water and fevicol. After that I laid those dipped paper bits on my hand and left it to dry. When the paper dried off it became a mold and I gently removed it.
But while making this model I did not make any surfaces I just made a cast. So I decided making a model using file card. Here I cut the file card into small triangles and stuck them together to make the surface of a hand this method is called tessellation.
For the third model I used skewer sticks. To get an idea about how to stick the skewer sticks I drew the lines on my own hand.
